We spent 4 days in Katmandu. I like the city eventhough everyone is trying to rip you off for all kind of shopping you do there =). We stayed in Thamel, very crowded with tourists and budget hotels and restaurants. Katmandu apparently is a small city, you can walk anywhere. We visited some stupas, temple and durbar squares (traditional city) around the city. We went also to Bhaktapur to see its World Heritage Durbar Square. And also we visited Nagarkot, a calm cool hill station, like an hour from Katmandu. I have some pictures here, might you want to have a look =)
